With theScore's new Player Alerts, fans will be notified in real time when someone on their roster scores a goal, makes an assist or receives a penalty. They'll also be sent alerts about vital player news, such as injuries.
Player Alerts are part of the latest update for theScore for iOS and are currently available for NHL and NBA leagues, with MLB coverage following this summer and NFL coverage arriving in time for the start of the new season.
"For fantasy sports fans this feature is a real game-changer," said Jonathan Savage, VP of Product at theScore. "theScore has always been the perfect app for the sports fan on-the-go and now - with Player Alerts - weddings, dinner dates or business meetings will never get in the way of tracking your fantasy sports team."
Player Alerts for Android are due in the fall, while this latest update for iOS also includes:
- Better Social Sharing: A more intuitive menu offering Facebook tagging and Twitter @ mentions.
- Deeper League Stats: Flip your device horizontal in the "Standings" area to see even more stats.
- Improved Alerts Management: We've made it easier to configure and customize the way alerts work and also added "Default Alerts" so you can choose which you automatically receive when you follow teams, events, players, and leagues.
- Optional On-boarding: A new optional on-boarding tutorial that will teach you how to follow your favorite teams and become familiar with the app's key features.
theScore is used by more than 4.2 million monthly mobile active users. It is available on Android, iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Phone, iPad and iPad mini and mobile web.
