DARTMOUTH, NS, May 15, 2014 /CNW/ - A van accompanying The Children's Wish Foundation was broken into on May 14th and $500.00 of emergency money has been stolen.
The team members of the 11th Annual HMCS Run for the Wish were taking a break and enjoying a movie after their long day of running when the robbery took place. Management of the Cineplex Theatre interrupted the movie to alert the members that the van's window had been smashed.
When the team arrived at the scene, they noticed the money was stolen from a computer case that had been kept in the van. None of the money donated to the foundation had been in the vehicle.
Dartmouth Dodge donated the Children's Wish van to support the HMCS Run for the Wish. Each year, members of the Canadian Navy run across the province from Yarmouth and North Sydney to Halifax to raise money in support of the Nova Scotia Chapter of The Children's Wish Foundation.
The team has been running throughout the province since May 11th and plans to end their journey on Monday May 19th. Their goal is to raise $40,000 for the Children's Wish Foundation. Over the past ten years the HMCS Run for the Wish has raised more than $140,000 to grant wishes for children suffering from life threatening illnesses.
Members of the team are: James Abthorpe, Jody Waterfield, Jay Dewolfe, Charlotte Farish, Dylan Tullis, Aaron Myers, Michaela Alexander, Jason Boulanger, Andrew swim, Ed Renaud, Ken day, Michael Ambroziak.
The team's next stops will be Sackville, Windsor, Greenwood, Digby, Yarmouth, and ending their eight-day run in Halifax. They will be accepting donations along the way to help support Children's Wish.

The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada
Each year, thousands of Canadian children between the ages of three and 17 are diagnosed with a life threatening illness. Since 1984, The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada has worked tirelessly to grant exceptional wishes to over 20,000 children and their families.
This year, Children's Wish expects to grant over 1,000 new wishes and with the help of volunteers and generous donors, is able to grant nearly three wishes every day. Each wish is an individual adventure, carefully structured to meet the needs of a particular child and family. Children's Wish is a national charity with chapters in every province and territory.
