Gather. Recognize. Influence.
A program rich in content
MONTREAL, Aug. 30, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - The Palais des congrès de Montréal, the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal (BTMM), the Conference of Rectors and Principals of Quebec Universities (CREPUQ), the Conférence régionale des élus (CRÉ) de Montréal, the Montreal Council on Foreign Relations (MCFR), Montréal International, Tourisme Montréal and Ville de Montréal, are proud to announce the spokespeople, partners and program for the third edition of the event, which will take place November 14 and 15 at the Palais des congrès de Montréal.
Pooling our strengths to innovate and to grow our prosperity, and recognizing our talents and our collective wealth to increase our influence at home and around the world: these are the event's main objectives.
With its high-level program, this year's edition will again foster livelydiscussionsthat will lead to conclusions and proposedsolutions for some of the issues associated with innovation in Quebec. Organizers hope to identify new ways of innovating and becoming more competitive, while recognizing the talents and the strengths of the collaborative ties between universities and corporations.
Organizers are very pleased that Mouvement Desjardins has again agreed to serve as the event's presenting sponsor and to welcome back the two outstanding spokespeople from last year's edition: Monique F. Leroux, president and CEO of Mouvement Desjardins, and Dr. Pavel Hamet, O.Q., M.D., Ph. D., professor with the faculty of medicine at the Université de Montréal and internationally renowned researcher.
"It's an honour to serve as spokesperson again this year. Since it was created, the Mouvement Desjardins has always strived to serve the community. If we are to ensure that Quebeckers enjoy a prosperous, sustainable future, we all have a responsibility to work together and combine our strengths. The Rendez-vous du Savoir is an opportunity to develop and above all strengthen the important ties that exist between our universities and companies. These ties will enable us to progress and to stand out as a knowledge society," said Ms. Leroux.
"In Quebec, we need to better capitalize on all of our remarkable potential in the fields of education, innovation, research and entrepreneurship. In the context current, where openness to the world is an integral part of business relations and competition is growing, it is essential for Quebec companies to become aware of the major role that research and the universitiescould play in this area," added Dr. Hamet. "In this respect, the Rendez-vous du Savoir is a vital forum for exploring these issues."
The Rendez-vous du Savoir is building on its momentum by welcoming two major players, Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton (RCGT) and CGI, as associate partners of the event. By associating with the Rendez-vous du Savoir, these companies hope to contribute to drawing attention to success stories and there by inspiring other companies to innovate and invest in the knowledge society. RCGT feels it is essential to develop the competencies associated with the growth of Quebec companies and the appropriation of our territory and its wealth. Moreover, CGI's participation underscores the importance the company places on recognizing the prosperity generated by universities for Quebec as a whole.
