Thirty-two Canadian organizations shortlisted for inaugural Employee Recommended Workplace Award Français
Morneau Shepell and The Globe and Mail to announce 2017 winners on June 21
TORONTO, May 15, 2017 /CNW/ - Thirty-two organizations have been recognized as Employee Recommended Workplaces in the first Employee Recommended Workplace Award, developed by Morneau Shepell and The Globe and Mail. From this group, nine will be selected as category winners based on organization type and size. The winners of the 2017 awards will be announced on June 21, 2017 at an awards ceremony to be held at The Globe and Mail's new headquarters in Toronto. These organizations will also be profiled nationally in The Globe and Mail, Canada's leading national newspaper.
The Employee Recommended Workplace Award recognizes excellence in achieving a healthy, engaged and productive workforce. Employees were asked to complete a short confidential survey that includes questions about their physical and mental health, as well as aspects of their work and life – all elements of Total Health that impact employee engagement and productivity. On completion, they received a personal assessment that identified potential areas for improvement and provided them with links to resources to help them take action. Organizations received a summary report of their workforce that highlighted positive results and outlined opportunities for improvement, which they could use for Human Resources planning.
"Research shows that healthy employees are more engaged and productive, and that translates into better business results," said Dr. Bill Howatt, Chief Research & Development Officer, Workforce Productivity, Morneau Shepell. "The starting point is for employers to measure their employees' total health – physical, mental, work and life – and identify a plan of action. The Employee Recommended Workplace Award survey provides the key metrics organizations need for benchmarking and measuring their progress in achieving better health, engagement and productivity."
"The Globe is pleased to congratulate the finalists for excellence in achieving a healthy, engaged and productive workforce. We look forward to announcing the top category winners in the new Globe and Mail Centre in June," said Phillip Crawley, Publisher and Chief Executive Officer, The Globe and Mail.
The list of the 2017 Employee Recommended Workplaces is attached. These workplaces and award winners are selected solely on the basis of the scores from their employee surveys. In short, employees determine the organizations that rise to the top and are recognized as Employee Recommended Workplaces.
