MAtv UNVEILS LINE-UP OF SHOWS ABOUT LOCAL CONCERNS
MONTRÉAL, Sept. 12, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - MAtv is announcing a fall schedule which includes a number of new shows by and for Montrealers of all backgrounds. The distinctive and diverse programming, featuring shows with broad appeal, will hit the air on September 25.
MAtv: Unique ties to the community
Videotron's community channel, which has been serving citizens for nearly 50 years, is more plugged in to local realities than ever. "With more than 50% of its programming derived from citizen projects, MAtv is distinguished by its unique local character and its close connection to viewers," says Steve Desgagné, Senior Director, MAtv.
English programs turn the spotlight on Montrealers and their stories
After adding English shows to its schedule in 2015 in order to reflect the make-up of Montréal, MAtv is launching a new series entitled Montrealers. The show's creator and host Leah Balass introduces viewers to fascinating people from different walks of life. Montrealers of all origins – Greek, Indian, Brazilian, Japanese, Egyptian, Iranian, French – open up to Leah and share inspiring personal stories. :: Tuesday 7:30 PM ::
Urban Nations, created and hosted by Lachlan Madill, is back this fall with a second season of shows about the lives of Aboriginal people living and working in the city while maintaining their traditions. The show featuring inspirational individuals from many Aboriginal nations educates viewers about First Nations cultures and dispels myths. :: Tuesday 7 PM ::
Educate, equip, inform!
CityLife and its French-language counterpart Mise À Jour scrutinize, probe and question the issues affecting Montrealers' daily lives. Richard Dagenais (CityLife) and Sophie Vallerand (Mise À Jour) are back to look at matters such as governance, roads, public transit, environment, economy, immigration, culture, etc. Both shows follow the neighbourhood news which residents care about but the major media outlets tend to overlook. Jay Du Temple back for season 2
Jay Du Temple's cycling adventure UrbArt is returning for a second season! Jay bikes along Montréal streets to meet interesting people and show the city in a different light. The show produced by Alec Stephani and Ian Quenneville of Toast Média is in the running for two Gémeaux awards: best arts program and best theme music. This fall, a dozen guests (including Émile Proulx-Cloutier, Kevin Raphaël, La Bronze and Catherine Éthier) will come on the show to share Jay's vision of Montréal, his love of the city, and his secret byways and places. :: Tuesday 9 PM ::
Ère libre: A fresh new show with Michèle Sirois
Actor, nurse, author and speaker Michèle Sirois fronts the new show Ère libre about seniors living life to the fullest. The program, produced in partnership with the seniors association FADOQ, is about all aspects of this new chapter of life. The subjects addressed include social engagement, health, retirement, leisure, volunteering, finances, technology and more. Every week, roundtable discussions, reports, interviews and columnists dismantle misconceptions about aging and help lift the veil on a vibrant and vigorous generation. :: Monday at 9 PM ::
For parents and kids
Famille au menu, presented and hosted by Montréal residents Marie-Eve Boucher and Valérie Thibault, is a lifestyle program for young families. Every week, it leads viewers on a 30-minute discovery journey of things to do and places to go in the city. Children act as our guides on the hunt for Montréal's hidden treasures. Regular features include segments about family restaurants, family activities, cooking with a celebrity chef, books, and products for kids made by local craftspeople. :: Thursday at 7:30 PM ::
