This Father's Day celebrate the men you love
Lace up your shoes for Prostate Cancer Canada's annual Safeway Father's Day Walk/Run
VANCOUVER, June 14, 2012 /CNW/ - On Sunday, June 17, families in 15 cities across Canada will come together for a morning of fitness and fun to raise awareness for prostate cancer. Vancouver is proud to host this year's event in Burnaby, Kelowna, Chilliwack and Kamloops and is encouraging residents of all ages to lace up their shoes in support of the cause.
The Safeway Father's Day Walk/Run is an annual event that allows the community to come together to support and celebrate the men in our lives. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer to affect Canadian men. The run is in partnership with Prostate Cancer Foundation B.C. Prostate Cancer Foundation B.C. represents many of B.C.'s prostate cancer patients, their families, and communities, led and supported by many volunteers acting through awareness, information and support programs. The Foundations fundraising through the Safeway Father's Day Walk/Run provides the resources for these programs throughout B.C., to catalyst research projects and doctorial fellowships so that the best medical researchers have the equipment and resources to search for better treatments and a cure for prostate cancer.
In addition to the Walk/Run, family activities will also be taking place, making this event a fun affair for the entire family and a special way to celebrate Father's Day.
Media are invited to meet with participants and Prostate Cancer Canada ambassadors to learn about their personal motivation for joining the Walk/Run and the significance of the event in the local community. Onsite photo opportunities will also be available.
