TORONTO, Dec. 13 /CNW/ - 'ET Canada Gives Back,' a week-long series highlighting the philanthropic efforts of the ET Canada on-air team begins tonight at 7:30pm ET/PT on Global.
In tandem with the launch, Cheryl Hickey and Rick Campanelli are volunteering for The Power of 2, a unique initiative that pits the co-hosts in a friendly battle to raise money for their charities of choice - SickKids Foundation and Athletes for Africa, respectively. The challenge is further fuelled by entertaining wagers selected by the rival competitor: Rick will be forced to have his legs waxed should Cheryl raise more, and Cheryl will have no choice but to do a routine with the Raptors Dance Pak at the December 22nd game if she is outdone. The losing bet will be showcased on ET Canada's Thursday, December 23rd episode.
Fans are encouraged to lend their support for their favourite contender with a donation of $2 or more by visiting www.power-of-2.org before end of day on December 22nd. With each generous donation, there's also the chance to win a "Behind-the-Scenes VIP Experience at ET Canada." More details surrounding the contest and ways viewers can get involved can be found at etcanada.com.
But the giving doesn't stop there…The rest of the week-long series will see reporters Kim D'Eon, Roz Weston, Rosey Edeh and Erin Cebula share with viewers how they like to 'give back' to their communities by shedding light on their favourite charities. As a bonus, each will call on one of their celebrity friends to pitch in for the cause, including the likes of Being Erica's Erin Karpluk, So You Think You Can Dance's Blake McGrath, singer Divine Brown, home-décor guru Debbie Travis and more.
ET Canada airs weeknights at 7:30pm ET/PT on Global and 11pm ET/8pm PT on SLICETM. To catch up on special episodes and all the latest in entertainment news, please visit etcanada.com.

About Power of 2
Power of 2 is a Public Inc. initiative (www.publicinc.com) aimed at unlocking the power of celebrity for social good. The principle is simple. Two celebrities go head-to-head to see who can raise the most amount of money for the charity that they are passionate about. The ask to their fans is to give $2 or more and get 2 friends to do the same and win a chance at a grand prize. To up the ante (and the fun) there is a wager on the deal between the two celebrities. Cheryl Hickey vs. Rick Campanelli is the first of many Power of 2's coming in 2011.
