Thornbury Village Cider launches "Thornbury's Apples for All" project to support Ontario Association of Food Banks
Thornbury Village Cider Partners with Ontario Association of Food Banks for Thornbury's Apples for All Initiative
THORNBURY, ON, May 23, 2018 /CNW/ - Thornbury Village Craft Cider & Beer, located in the heart of Ontario's Apple Region, has announced an exciting new partnership with the Ontario Association of Food Banks, called Thornbury's "Apples for All" project. Through Thornbury's "Apples for All" project, the cider house will help provide fresh food to Ontario food banks by donating $0.10 to the Ontario Association of Food Banks for every can of premium apple cider sold.
"On behalf of the provincial food bank network and those we serve, we would like to say thank you to Thornbury Village Craft Cider & Beer for their partnership in addressing hunger in Ontario," says Carolyn Stewart, Executive Director, Ontario Association of Food Banks. "This support will go a long way in helping us to ensure that the 499,000 adults, children and seniors that we serve annually have ongoing access to nutritious food throughout the year."
The campaign, officially launched on May 23rd, 2018, will continue until we reach our goal of selling 100,000 cans of cider. Once our goal is met, Thornbury Cider House will have provided the equivalent of over 30,000 meals to the Ontario Association of Food Banks through Thornbury's Apples for All partnership.
Thornbury Village Craft Cider was looking for a way to give back to the community and learned how great the need was for food banks right in their own area, as well as across the province. As the cidery is located in midst of apple country, the desire was to donate "apples", and other fresh, healthy food to food banks. "We truly believe in finding a way to give back to the community and felt what better way than to "share the harvest" with those who need it most. Through this program we can assist by taking a "bite" out of hunger by supporting food banks in our province," says Jim Clark, President of Thornbury Village Cider and Brew House. The company made a pledge to donate to the Ontario Association of Food Banks for every can of cider sold this year. Sales of Thornbury Craft Apple Cider cans through restaurants, grocery, LCBO and the cider house will contribute to this campaign.
