Three businesses and three organizations in the Bonaventure RCM can go ahead with their development and growth projects Français
The Government of Canada awards almost $593,000 to Hôtel Le Francis, Cim Aventures, the Bonaventure Château Blanc, the Banc-de-Paspébiac historic site, the Committee for Anglophone Social Action, and the Gaspesian Bluegrass Music Association

Hôtel Le Francis, Cime Aventures, the Bonaventure Château Blanc, the Banc-de-Paspébiac historic site, the Committee for Anglophone Social Action and the Gaspesian Bluegrass Music Association will be able to go ahead with their projects with the help of a total of $592,216 in payable and non-repayable contributions from Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions.
Specifically, the funding will allow Hôtel Le Francis and the Bonaventure Château Blanc to upgrade their services with a view to ensuring their growth and enhancing their competitiveness; for its part, Cime Aventures will be able to acquire new infrastructure to foster the expansion of the business. The financial assistance will also benefit three organizations in the Bonaventure RCM, namely the Banc‑de‑Paspébiac historic site, which plans to renew its permanent exhibit in order to attract a broader audience; the Committee for Anglophone Social Action, which will be able to enhance its services with a view to fostering the economic development of English-speaking communities in the Gaspésie region; and the Gaspesian Bluegrass Music Association, which will be able to implement a marketing strategy for the development of new markets outside Quebec.
The funding was announced today by the Honourable Diane Lebouthillier, Member of Parliament for Gaspésie–Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine and Minister of National Revenue. The financial assistance granted by the Government of Canada through CED's Quebec Economic Development Program will allow the recipient businesses and organizations to achieve their established objectives. Their respective projects will generate total spending of over $1.8 million and will result in the creation of five jobs in the RCM.

Repayable contribution of $250,000 out of a total investment of $800,000 Built in 1966, Hôtel Le Francis is a four-star hotel that operates year-round. In 1990, the hotel completed $2M in major renovation and fit-up work. The business has 33 employees, 19 of whom work full time. In addition to its 38 lodging units, its amenities include food service, a pub, an outdoor pool and a spa. Clients and the public can also make use of its two conference rooms, which can accommodate up to 125 people. The purpose of the project is to expand the business by improving the quality of its service offerings and enhancing its competitiveness. The contribution will be used to renovate the lodging units and the conference rooms. |
Non-repayable contribution of $155,616 out of a total investment of $258,463 The Committee for Anglophone Social Action (CASA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving and defending the interests of Gaspé's English-speaking population. Founded in 1975, CASA provides the local Anglophone community with support and assistance in multiple areas, including health, social services, youth, culture, heritage and old age. CASA plays a leadership role in economic development and entrepreneurship. The project consists in implementing the 2018–2023 Regional Tourism Action Plan for the English-speaking community of the Gaspé Coast and the Magdalen Islands. It will encourage greater economic integration of Anglo-Gaspesians in the regional tourism industry. The contribution will cover the coordinators' salaries, including mandatory employer-related costs and expenses pertaining to concept development for the marketing program. The project will create two jobs. |

Non-repayable contribution of $66,600 out of a total investment of $293,900 The Gaspesian Bluegrass Music Association is a non-profit volunteer-based organization that manages an annual bluegrass music festival in the Town of New Richmond. The legal entity was incorporated in November 2014. The organization is operated mainly by Anglophone residents of the Baie des Chaleurs. The festival takes place in the last days of August leading up to Labour Day weekend. The project involves marketing activities targeting out-of-province tourists. The contribution will cover project expenses specific to the out-of-province marketing strategy. These include advertising and promotional fees, travel costs, and roadside mobile signage required for out‑of-province festivalgoers. |

Repayable contribution of $45,000 out of a total investment of $119,715 Founded in 1989, Cime Aventures resort is a family-run business whose mission is to help people discover the previously little known Bonaventure River. This multi-award-winning business is the only one on the Gaspé Coast offering ecotourism products with lodging (rooms/camping) and many river sports activities. The goal of the project is to expand the business through the development of adventure and ecotourism infrastructure. The contribution will go toward the purchase and installation of an aerial adventure course, the purchase of equipment, and the fit-up of a free zone for river‑rafting activities on a section of Bonaventure River. The project will create three jobs. |

Repayable contribution of $45,000 out of a total investment of $98,000 Established in 1994, the Bonaventure Château Blanc is a three-star, thirty-unit hotel on the shore of the Baie des Chaleurs. It has a meeting room and a restaurant and is open six months out of the year, from May to October. Its strategic location at the heart of the village and its privileged sea access make it an exceptional site. The goal of the project is to modernize the Bonaventure Château Blanc, a three-star hotel, in order to enhance the quality of its tourism offerings and make it more competitive. The contribution will be used to complete work to renovate and modernize the hallway and the eight premium rooms (flooring, electricity, lighting, furniture, windows and bathrooms) and purchase banquet equipment. |
Non-repayable contribution of $30,000 out of a total investment of $298,804 The Banc-de-Paspébiac historic site was incorporated in 1977. The organization is a non-profit legal entity whose mission is to conserve and promote the history and buildings still remaining on the Banc-de-Pêche-de-Paspébiac heritage site.The site is an industrial cod fishing complex that has been active since the end of the 18th century. In 1964, a fire destroyed most of the 70 buildings still standing. The location now consists of 12 buildings that survived the event, representing the largest collection of 19th century industrial buildings on the Gaspé Peninsula. The purpose of the project is to enhance the organization's tourism offerings through the renewal of the permanent exhibit. The contribution will cover the costs associated with the new exhibit's English-speaking community component, such as salaries and fees for research activities in English-speaking communities, costs for translating, designing and developing the content for this component, and costs for manufacturing display cases and informative panels, including lighting and a multimedia/interactive component. |
