Three CI Investments portfolio managers receive Fund Manager of the Year honours

TORONTO, Nov. 26, 2015 /CNW/ - CI Investments Inc. ("CI") is pleased to announce that three of its portfolio managers have received Morningstar Awards in recognition of their investment expertise. CI congratulates Richard Jenkins of Black Creek Investment Management, who was named Morningstar Foreign Equity Fund Manager of the Year, and Greg Dean and Stephen Groff of Cambridge Global Asset Management, who were co-winners of the Breakout Fund Manager of the Year award.

The Morningstar Awards, which were announced last night, honour excellence in the Canadian investment fund industry. They are given by Morningstar Research, Inc., a leading provider of independent investment research.

"The Foreign Equity Fund Manager of the Year award recognizes Richard's extensive expertise in international investing and his long-term track record of exceptional performance," said Derek J. Mr. Jenkins is Chairman and Managing Director of Black Creek, an independent Toronto-based investment management firm. He manages a number of mandates for CI Investments, including Black Creek International Equity Fund and Black Creek Global Balanced Fund. He has over 25 years of investment management experience as an investment analyst and portfolio manager of international equities.

Morningstar research analysts select the Manager of the Year award winners based on criteria such as strong performance over the past year, excellent long-term risk-adjusted performance, the strength of their process, the quality of their decision making and the likelihood of repeating past success.

Breakout Fund Manager of the Year is a new award category developed by Morningstar to recognize "up-and-coming managers worthy of investors' attention."

Mr. Dean and Mr. Groff are Principals and Portfolio Managers with Cambridge, a division of CI. Mr. Groff is Lead Portfolio Manager of the Cambridge dividend funds, including Cambridge Canadian Dividend Fund, Cambridge U.S. Dividend Fund and Cambridge Global Dividend Fund. He is also Lead Portfolio Manager of Cambridge American Equity Fund and co-manager of Cambridge Pure Canadian Equity Fund.

Mr. Dean is Lead Portfolio Manager of the Cambridge small and mid-cap equity funds, including Cambridge Growth Companies Corporate Class and Cambridge Canadian Growth Companies Fund, and is co-manager of Cambridge Pure Canadian Equity Fund. Mr. Dean has also been named a TopGun Investment Mind in the Brendan Wood International Canadian investment rankings from 2012-2014.

Meanwhile, two CI funds were award winners in their categories, and three others were finalists.
