The Government of Canada provides financial assistance of roughly $475,000 to carry out capital projects of over $1.4 million.
DOLBEAU–MISTASSINI, QC, July 17, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
Brewing beer is one of Canada's oldest industries, and its consumption is one of Canada's well-established traditions. Craft beer has particularly flourished in recent years. Many Quebec brewers are growing and the Government of Canada supports local brewers as they expand to meet the growing demand for their products while maintaining and creating jobs.
Thanks to financial support from the Government of Canada in the amount of $473,395, three Lac-Saint-Jean microbreweries—Microbrasserie Beemer Inc., Microbrasserie Le Coureur des Bois Inc. and Microbrasserie Riverbend Inc.—will advance investment projects valued at over $1.4 million.
This announcement was made today by Richard Hébert, Member of Parliament for Lac-Saint-Jean, acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for CED.
The funding awarded under CED's Quebec Economic Development Program will allow the recipient businesses to carry out their expansion projects, particularly through the acquisition of more efficient malting equipment that is better adapted to their needs. These projects are expected to create nine jobs in the region.
Since its inception in 2015, Microbrasserie Beemer Inc., based in Roberval, has quickly earned a privileged position in this market with its niche products. Valued at $212,500, CED's assistance will make it possible to acquire and install higher-performance malting equipment that is better adapted to the company's needs, thereby fostering its expansion.
Established in Dolbeau in 2011, Microbrasserie Le Coureur des Bois Inc. serves up its craft beers in a brewpub. It will take its next step by acquiring bottling facilities. CED's $185,895 contribution will go towards the purchase and installation of equipment required for its growth.
Founded in Alma in 2015, Microbrasserie Riverbend Inc. draws inspiration from ancient brewing techniques, which have contributed to its success. Ready to pursue its expansion, it will receive assistance in the amount of $75,000 to acquire various equipment and improve its facilities and website.
