Three Letters Missing from Your New Year's Resolution
TORONTO, Dec. 30 /CNW/ - Year after year, Canadians make the same New Year's Resolutions: get in shape, save more, spend less, etc. Given that these resolutions have yet to be resolved, something is clearly not working. Booty Camp Fitness Inc. creator and CEO, Sammie Kennedy, notices the one element that is missing from New Year's Resolutions and can be the key to success. Three little letters: F-U-N.
"Let's be honest with ourselves, if something isn't fun we're just not going to do it. We'll try to stick to it for awhile with the best intentions, but it won't last," says Kennedy. "That's why Booty Camp has always made fun an integral part of our program. Add a group of inspiring ladies with a common goal, some great music and a knowledgeable instructor with a contagious enthusiasm for fitness and by the end of an hour you don't even realize how intense a workout you've had!"
Some non-traditional group workouts that bring the fun back from being in grade school include:
- Duck, Duck, Goose
- Ladies form a circle (facing in at each other) all doing a series of squats & squat variations, together. One person is 'it' and runs around the circle (gets in her cardio) then picks someone else to be 'it' - mixing cardio and lower body strengthening and toning moves
- Crabwalk Tag
- Each lady ties a plastic bag loosely to her t-shirt, hanging out of pants so that it is accessible
- Ladies are all in crabwalk position (working their triceps) and everybody is 'it'. The goal is to crabwalk and collect the garbage bags from other ladies to make them 'out'. Once out, she flips over and does push ups (working biceps) for the rest of the game until one lady has collected all the bags and declared the winner
- Leapfrog Races
- Obstacle courses where every other woman is in a downward dog position and the ladies in between curl into balls. The woman running the course has an intense cardio workout engaging her full body as she jumps, ducks and runs to complete the race.
Kennedy is available to demonstrate these games for visually exciting stories and can also share her expertise and strategies on how to develop realistic goals. Equally importantly, she can share tips on how to stay motivated and committed to achieving them throughout the year.
