Three People Killed By School Buses in Five Months in Toronto Area: Victim's Family Holds News Conference to Question Why Safety Improvements Never Implemented - Smitiuch Injury Law
TORONTO, Nov. 19, 2024 /CNW/ - The family and friends of Rachel Turner, struck down by a school bus Oct. 9, will hold a press conference Wednesday at their home, just steps from the scene of the horrific accident in The Beach area of Toronto.
They will be speaking about the rising number of school bus fatalities in the Toronto area and will be asking why numerous recommendations for improving school bus safety have not been acted upon.
Rachel, 22, had recently graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University, majoring in Business Administration. She was preparing to pursue her MBA and had met her soulmate. Her potential success and contributions to the community were unlimited. That ended when she was struck by the bus while in a crosswalk on Kingswood Road at Kingston Road. She died four days later after donating organs and helping to save the lives of five recipients.
