THUNDER BAY, ON, May 16, 2012 /CNW/ - Former workers at the Thunder Bay Plasma Donor Clinic are hosting one last rally to thank their donors and to invite the public to sign petitions calling for greater self-sufficiency in the plasma supply.
Taking place Thursday, May 17 from 4-6 pm at the Labour Resource Centre, 929 Fort William Rd., the event will also include light refreshments, speeches, and a chance to say goodbye to clients and staff who have worked closely together.
Canadian Blood Services closed the clinic with two weeks' notice, telling Thunder Bay donors that their plasma was surplus.
The Ontario Public Service Employees Union is concerned that the closure is contributing to less self-sufficiency in our plasma supply, making Canada more vulnerable to shortages and adverse events.
