Thunderstorm knocks out power to more than 47,000 customers
TORONTO, Aug. 2, 2015 /CNW/ - Thunderstorms that started this afternoon have caused power outages to Hydro One's distribution system across southern and central Ontario. Where safe, Hydro One crews are out assessing damage and starting repairs.
"We are committed to restoring power as quickly and as safely as possible to our customers and have brought in additional resources to assist with restoration efforts," said Jon Rebick, Vice President, Lines and Forestry, Hydro One Networks. "We appreciate our customers' patience as our crews continue restoring power across Ontario."
At present, there are 47,157 customers without power. Some of the major areas affected are listed below:

Power will be restored as soon as possible and Hydro One will continue to provide updates on restoration times.

Hydro One strongly urges people to take extra precaution near fallen power lines. People are urged to report the location of the fallen wires to Hydro One as soon as possible. Touching a vehicle or a tree that is in contact with a power line can be fatal.
