Tickets now on sale for Water for Life - Chefs for UNICEF Dinner
Event will feature special guest speaker and award winning cuisine
HALIFAX, Jan. 31, 2013 /CNW/ - Tickets are now on sale for Halifax's premier charity event, the Water for Life - Chefs for UNICEF dinner on March 6, at the Halifax World Trade and Convention Centre.
This year UNICEF is pleased to have Chairman of Clearwater, Colin MacDonald as Honorary Chair of the dinner. Mr. MacDonald is a distinguished corporate and community leader dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children around the world.
Guests will enjoy an unforgettable dining experience from 10 of Nova Scotia's premier chefs and exclusive insights into UNICEF's work responding to humanitarian crises from guest speaker UNICEF Emergency Specialist and Canadian Chris Tidey.
Over the last two years Mr. Tidey has been deployed to some of the world's most complex emergencies. He was part of UNICEF's responses to the political crises in Libya, famine in the Horn of Africa, Pakistan's devastating floods and hunger crises in Western Africa's Sahel region. Mr. Tidey will give a personal account about the challenges, successes and strategies of UNICEF's work reaching the world's most vulnerable children during complex humanitarian emergencies.
"The evening will serve as a reminder of the many challenges that still exist for children around the world and also a celebration of the Halifax community's incredible support for UNICEF's work over the last 21 years," says Honorary Chair Colin MacDonald.
The goal of this year's Water for Life dinner is to raise $175,000 to support UNICEF's work improving children's access to clean and safe drinking water around the world.
Water is essential for life, yet globally more than 100 million children under the age of five don't have access to safe drinking water which leads to 5,000 children under the age of 5 dying every day. Through the generous support of donors, UNICEF works in more than 100 countries improving water supplies and sanitation facilities while promoting safe hygiene.
Individual tickets for the Water for Life - Chefs for UNICEF dinner are $250 each. Tables of ten are also available. To order tickets, please call 1(800) 819-0889 ext 8204. Learn more at www.unicef.ca
