Tim Hortons Celebrates 100th Grey Cup with Limited Edition Cup, Tim Card and Donut
OAKVILLE, ON, Oct. 25, 2012 /CNW/ - Starting Monday, the iconic Tim Hortons hot beverage cup is getting a makeover at more than 600 Tim Hortons restaurants in the Greater Toronto Area. Tim Hortons is introducing special edition Grey Cup-themed hot beverage cups to celebrate the CFL's 100th Grey Cup game, which will be played in Toronto on Sunday, November 25, 2012. The cups, designed to look like a football and featuring the 100th Grey Cup logo, will be available until Grey Cup Sunday. These restaurants will also carry special edition CFL Grey Cup Tim Cards and feature football supreme donuts on their menu.
"Tim Hortons has a long history with the CFL and we're excited about celebrating the 100th Grey Cup," said David McMullen, Vice President Marketing, Canada. "It's very rare we change the graphic design of our hot beverage cups, but this milestone in Canadian sports is certainly an excellent reason to do so."
To mark the occasion, CFL Commissioner Mark Cohon will make a special appearance on Monday, October 29th at the Tim Hortons located at 720 King Street West (King and Bathurst) at 10 am. CFL alumni will make a special appearance at 2245 Yonge Street (Yonge and Eglinton) at 11:30 am.
"The 100th Grey Cup is an opportunity to celebrate its unique place in Canadian culture and history," said CFL Commissioner Mark Cohon. "It's very fitting that Tim Hortons, a brand that has its own place in Canadian culture, will be helping us celebrate this historic event with a special activation across the Toronto area."
Tim Hortons' partnership as the official coffee and baked goods supplier of the CFL goes back more than 15 years. Tim Hortons also sponsors all eight CFL teams along with the playoffs and the Grey Cup game.
