Tim Hudak is Radical and Risky in Uncertain Times

Hudak committed to war between business and labour that will damage recovering economy

QUEEN'S PARK, Feb. 21, 2014 /CNW/ - Tim Hudak won't fool Ontarians about his commitment to his right-to-work scheme that will create a war between business and labour and damage Ontario's recovering economy, said Liberal MPP Steven Del Duca.

"Anyone who has been listening to Tim Hudak knows he is committed to his right-to-work scheme that will drive down wages, weaken pensions, and damage our recovering economy," said Del Duca.  "It doesn't matter what he calls it, the PCs will create a war between business and labour and that is bad for the economy. Tim Hudak is radical and risky in uncertain times." 

"For two years Tim Hudak championed his war on unions and workers' rights – he just fired a candidate who opposed it," said Del Duca. "Tim Hudak's speech today was about hanging on to his shaky leadership in the face of open revolt from his party. He may fool his own party into believing he's changed, but he won't fool Ontarians about his risky and reckless plan." 

"The PCs want to cut and slash, and then wait and hope for the best. Their cuts to vital public services like schools and health care would have a devastating impact," said Del Duca. "Just as we've started to get Ontario moving, the PCs would grind things to a halt." 

"What we know for sure, not just on the issue of right-to-work, but on all of his radical ideas, is that Tim Hudak's values are out of whack with the values that the people of Ontario hold dear," concluded Del Duca. "Only Kathleen Wynne has an economic plan that is investing in people and business to create jobs for today and jobs for tomorrow."
