TORONTO, April 22, 2014 /CNW/ - Timbercreek Asset Management ("Timbercreek" or "the Company"), a leading investor, owner and manager of global real estate and related assets, announced today the expansion of its mortgage and real estate debt investment platform that will focus on investments in longer-term Canadian commercial mortgages and other related debt instruments. Fixed-income funds focused on longer-term debt will appeal to investors such as pension plans looking to de-risk their portfolios and match their future benefit liabilities. Audrey Howe, a highly experienced real estate fund management and real estate finance professional has joined Timbercreek as Senior Vice-President to manage this initiative, reporting to Andrew Jones, Managing Director Debt Investments at Timbercreek.
"We are excited to have someone of Audrey's expertise and qualifications join Timbercreek to help expand our debt investment platform," said Mr. Jones. "This represents yet another extension of Timbercreek's proficiency and expertise in Canadian real estate and extends the breadth of our portfolio to take advantage of a large and stable market."
"I look forward to working with the Timbercreek team to help enhance their debt investment platform," said Ms Howe. "We anticipate increased interest in quantifiable-outcome investments such as these, as investors seek effective long-term strategies to meet future cash-flow needs. As Canadian pensions continue to re-evaluate their exposure to different asset allocations, Timbercreek's new platform will deliver against increased interest in alternative long-term de-risking solutions."
Ms Howe has more than 30 years of experience in senior executive positions in the Canadian fund management and financial services industry. Most recently, Ms. Howe was President and a Director of ACM Advisors Ltd., a private fund management company.
