Time has come for united and decisive response to Iran, says former Israeli National Security Advisor in Calgary

CALGARY, May 25, 2012 /CNW/ - At an event held on May 24, 2012 in Calgary by The School of Public Policy, former National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of Israel, Dr. Uzi Arad, delivered a succinct and unequivocal message to the Calgary audience, and to Canada: "The entire world is facing a decisive moment, the imperative of confronting and preventing the prospect of a nuclear Iran.  The evidence of nuclearization is clear, and the choice is stark."

As part of a larger conference on security issues, The School of Public Policy was pleased to welcome Uzi Arad on his first visit to Calgary.  While energy issues important to Calgary are affected by the prospect of instability in the Middle-East, Arad's message was more national and global in scope.  "Canada has always been on the 'right' side of many conflicts, both recent and historic.  My message to Canada is that this is one of those decisive global moments.  Canada should support, to the best of its means and within its capabilities, an alliance to ensure that the military nuclearization of Iran is effectively halted.  This is not just an issue that affects only Israeli security - the threat of a nuclear Iran may be the defining security issue for the Middle-East, in fact, the entire world."
