TORONTO, March 2 /CNW/ - TMX Group Inc. today announced February 2010 consolidated trading statistics for its diversified group of exchanges - Toronto Stock Exchange, TSX Venture Exchange, Montreal Exchange and Natural Gas Exchange (NGX).
Highlights
TSX Venture Exchange again experienced significant year-over-year improvement in all measures in February 2010. Year to date in 2010, trading volume was up 74.7% and the value of shares traded increased 284.2% compared to the same period last year. Volume, value and number of transactions were lower in February 2010 on Toronto Stock Exchange.
February was another strong month for Montreal Exchange. Both trading volume and the number of open interest contracts were up compared to January 2010. There was also a 45.9% increase in open interest contracts and a 22.5% increase in volume year to date in 2010 compared to same period in 2009.
NGX natural gas volumes were up slightly in February 2010 compared to last month. Year-to-date electricity volume was up 15.7% in 2010 compared to this time last year.
