TORONTO, Aug. 5 /CNW/ - TMX Group today announced its financing activity on Toronto Stock Exchange and TSX Venture Exchange for July 2010.
The number of companies joining the Exchanges in 2010 continues to far exceed the same period in 2009. Toronto Stock Exchange has welcomed 11 new issuers in July and 105 new issuers in the first seven months of 2010. This compares to 46 new issuers in the first seven months of 2009, representing a 128% increase. Sixteen new companies were welcomed to TSX Venture Exchange in July 2010. This brought the 2010 year-to-date total to 97, compared to 52 in the same period last year. TMX Group set a new record for international listings with 26 new companies joining our equity exchanges as at July 31, 2010.
TSX Venture Exchange had an extremely strong month for financings in July 2010. Almost $1.2 billion in growth capital was raised by TSX Venture companies during the month, which is 136% more than June 2010 and 213% ahead of July 2009. On a year-to-date basis, total financings on the junior board in 2010 were 197% ahead of the same period in 2009.
