TORONTO, Jan. 5, 2016 /CNW/ - TMX Group Limited today announced December 2015 trading statistics for its marketplaces – Toronto Stock Exchange, TSX Venture Exchange, TMX Select, TSX Alpha Exchange (Alpha), Montréal Exchange (MX) and NGX.
In September 2015, TMX Group implemented significant changes to its equity offerings designed to improve the Canadian trading landscape and reduce market complexity. Effective September 21, 2015, Alpha introduced a transformative new trading model, which included a new set of trading rules and a new pricing schedule. Alpha now operates as an unprotected market under the Order Protection Rule. As part of TMX Group's changes, TMX Select ceased operation at the close of business September 18, 2015.
MX reached a new daily volume record for Equity Options on December 18, 2015, of 400,001 contracts. In addition, the S&P/TSX 60 Index Standard Futures (SXF) reached a new daily volume record on December 15, 2015, of 161,994 contracts. MX also reached a new high in terms of overall monthly volume with 7,483,033 contracts traded in December.
