Episode 405 Recap
From the Pit Start in Prince Rupert, B.C. all six remaining teams travelled to Hamilton through Toronto's Pearson International Airport. Teams made their way to the main BMO branch in downtown Hamilton where they received their next clue via a special video message from loved ones back home. This took them to the Road Block at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum.
At the Road Block, one member from each team got a brief lesson from a professional flight instructor on the intricacies on performing a rate one turn, which involves turning the aircraft 360 degrees while maintaining speed and altitude. After reaching 2000 feet at 200 kilometres per hour, the Racer took control of the aircraft and made their turn. Frankie and Amy chose to use their Express Pass and vaulted ahead into the first place position.
Teams then made their way to the MEC Action Sports Trifecta challenge at Bayfront Park where they had to bike, kayak, and make their way up the a climbing wall. Each team member had to climb to the top of the wall and ring a bell to receive their next clue.
The teams were then faced with a Detour, Dry Dock or Art Rock. In Dry Dock, teams made their way to Heddle Marine Service Inc. and had to weld two steel plates together to receive their next clue. In Art Rock, teams went to Collective Arts Brewing and had to recreate a custom craft beer label. Mother and daughter duo Frankie and Amy arrived to the Dry Dock Detour first, but quickly lost their lead to teams Steph and Kristen, and Jillian and Emmett, who both departed before they did. After many failed attempts, Frankie and Amy decided they would switch Detours and headed over to Art Rock.
While teams Julie and Lowell, and Rita and Yvette took on the Art Rock Detour, father and daughter Joel and Ashley got lost because their cab driver took them to the wrong location. Rita and Yvette, and Frankie and Amy were still at the Art Rock Detour once Joel and Ashley arrived, and the father-daughter duo struggled to get their stencils in the right order to correctly duplicate the beer label.
The final clue led teams to Jon at the Pit Stop in Dundurn Castle. Steph and Kristen kept their first place spot and arrived to win a trip for two to Delhi, India with five nights' accommodation provided by Hotels.com. Father and daughter Joel and Ashley were the last team to arrive at the Pit Stop, but were spared from elimination as all six teams kept on racing to Hamilton.
