TORONTO, Oct. 11, 2013 /CNW/ - The TORONTO 2015 Pan American/Parapan American Games Organizing Committee (TO2015) congratulates Lima for winning the honour of hosting the 2019 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games — marking the first Peru has hosted the Games.
Previously, Peru hosted the South American Games in 1990.
"We want to congratulate the Lima team and all Peruvians on their successful bid to host the 2019 Games," said Ian Troop, chief executive officer of TO2015. "Lima will be a wonderful host. We look forward to sharing our knowledge with them when they join us in 2015 for the Games Observer Program."
Lima was selected by delegates attending the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO) General Assembly in Toronto out of a pool of four cities that also included La Punta, Argentina; Santiago, Chile; and Ciudad Bolívar, Venezuela.
