MONTREAL, May 28, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - The Metropolitan Challenge and 3,500 participating cyclists are now officially kicking off Montreal's festival season and the Go Bike Montréal Festival, a week-long lineup of urban cycling activities for one and all. As the city turns 375 and Vélo Québec turns 50, the Festival invites cyclists to join in on the fun at a series of much-anticipated events in the coming days, including the Tour la Nuit and Tour de l'Île de Montréal.

Together at the Tour de l'Île de Montréal: Sunday, June 4
On Sunday, cycling enthusiasts are invited to a very special Tour de l'Île de Montréal, commemorating Vélo Québec's 50th anniversary. The event will get underway with a musical performance by popular singer-songwriter Vincent Vallières. The 50-km route will feature themed stations, a mobile exhibition on the history of cycling in Montreal (Deux roues, une histoire) and a spectacular "Montréal Complètement Cirque" experience at the finish line.

Together at the Tour la Nuit: Friday, June 2
As day turns into night, cyclists will gather for a colourful and fun-filled 20-kilometre bike parade through car-free city streets, cheered along by thousands of other participants.

- Finish: Jeanne-Mance Park
- Route: 20 km
Lecture: Vancouver – Green City, Cycling City!, Thursday, June 1
Vélo Québec is proud to welcome Dale Bracewell, Manager, Transportation Planning, City of Vancouver. During this talk, he will address the city's cycling strategy within the context of its Transportation 2040 Plan.
