Tomorrow Toronto's Biggest Fundraising Party of the Year! Featuring the
'Who's Who' of Toronto
TORONTO, March 25 /CNW/ - Tomorrow, Friday March 26th Toronto's biggest stars, media personalities and influential heavy weights will unite at what has become one of the hottest parties in the Toronto fundraising circuit. Join jhr (Journalists for Human Rights) for the 7th annual Night for Rights fundraiser, hosted for the first time ever at Toronto's legendary and recently renovated Studio 99.
"The Night for Rights fundraiser goes a long way toward helping jhr, Canada's largest international media development organization, support our programs in Canada and in countries in Sub-Saharan Africa" says jhr's Executive Director, Ben Peterson (top 40 under 40 - Globe and Mail).
This sold-out event will feature one of the most up and coming Canadian DJ's to emerge on the international scene, DJ DLUX (of Circa, Red Bull 3 style and Mod Club fame). In addition there will be live drumming lead by the founder of the Muhtadi international drumming festival and a line-up of DJ's playing everything from Ethiopian Jazz to Ghanaian and Nigerian funk. The night will also feature top of the line sight and sound installation, video DJs spinning live feed, and super-hot giveaways from West Jet and Gap Adventures.
This year jhr is proud to introduce an exclusive pre-event party. At this world-wide premier, MC'd by the CBC's Garvia Bailey (Big City, Small World) jhr will release details of an innovative new social media experiment, designed to connect and inspire socially conscious media-lovers world wide. Over premium wines and gourmet hors d'oeuvres a select number of premium ticket holders will also get a glimpse of the substantial impact jhr has had on the local media scene in Africa as Jefferson Sackey, a Ghanaian broadcast journalist, will speak on his work in Sierra Leone, Liberia and Ghana.
Since its inception in 2003, Night for Rights has established itself as a must on the social calendars of Toronto's rising stars and established leaders. Previous attendees include Liberal party leader Michael Ignatieff, the CBC's George Stroumbolouplous and Mark Kelly, Alexander "Sasha" Trudeau, Global TV's Robin Gill and Anna-Marie Mediwake; the Globe and Mail's Murray Campbell and Greg McArthur; and top journalists Linda McQuaig, Heather Mallick, Haroon Siddiqui, John Honderich and Seamus O'Regan.
jhr has a limited number of free media passes for those interested in covering the event. Previous Night for Rights have been covered by e-talk daily, Toronto Life, The Toronto Star, The Globe & Mail, National Post, CBC Radio, Global TV, Metro and 24.
