Top Health Researcher Joins Save the Mothers
HAMILTON, ON, May 31, 2012 /CNW/ - Save the Mothers, a Canadian charity based in Uganda, is pleased to announce Dr. Rob Alder is joining its team as associate director of research.
As the Director of Canadian Epidemiology Services and External Scholar with the World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Health Workforce Planning and Research, Dr. Alder's latest role will be implementing a maternal health research program for Save the Mothers.
"Dr. Alder has already made a tremendous contribution to the STM program both in terms of teaching and research," said Dr. Jean Chamberlain Froese, executive director of the program, a Master in Public Health Leadership which equips East African professionals to improve maternal health. "I'm looking forward to his new formal role with us."
She added Dr. Alder's experience in working with government officials and health researchers in the developing world will help Save the Mothers bring about systemic change in East Africa, where maternal mortality rates are unacceptably high.
