Toronto Argonauts & War Amps "CHAMP" debut safety PSA Monday
OTTAWA, Oct. 2, 2012 /CNW/ - Losing part of her left leg in a lawnmower accident has given Zoe Gottwald, 6, a special interest in spreading The War Amps PLAYSAFE message to other children.
This past summer, Zoe, who has been named The War Amps National Safety Ambassador, joined Toronto Argonauts stars Chad Owens and Chris Van Zeyl to film a new War Amps PLAYSAFE public service announcement. The PSA will begin airing this Thanksgiving Monday during TSN football telecasts and will continue through the CFL® Playoffs and the 100th Grey Cup®. It can also be viewed on The War Amps YouTube channel at youtube.com/warampsofcanada.
Zoe was enrolled in The War Amps Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program shortly after her accident and is now using her experience to pass on the PLAYSAFE message to other children by riding on the Association's PLAYSAFE/DRIVESAFE float in parades and through this PSA.
"We are very proud of Zoe, the Toronto Argos, the CFL and The War Amps for the work they put into this important message," said Denise Roussel, Zoe's mother. "We truly hope it continues to educate the public to spread the PLAYSAFE message."
Toronto Argonauts Executive Chairman & CEO, Chris Rudge, commented, "Our team is pleased to partner with The War Amps to help spread their message of PLAYSAFE throughout Canada. Zoe is an outstanding ambassador and, once you have seen the public service announcement, I'm sure you will agree that Chad and Chris may have learned a move or two from this inspiring young lady."
For more than 30 years, The War Amps and the Canadian Football LeagueTM have shared a special tradition - the annual CFL PLAYSAFE PSA, saluting the League's support of The War Amps kids-to-kids safety program. Like all War Amps productions, the PSA is funded by corporate sponsors.
