TORONTO, July 14, 2016 /CNW/ - Startup Fashion Week (SFW), the world's only fashion week to focus on fashion, business and technology, will continue to celebrate, support and connect entrepreneurs in the fashion and fashion-tech industry here in Toronto. With the disbanding of Toronto Fashion Week, SFW will continue to connect and strengthen the fashion industry in Canada.
"While the closure of Toronto Fashion Week is extremely unfortunate, SFW assures the Toronto fashion community that representation and exposure for emerging designers will continue to thrive," says Jodi Goodfellow, SFW Founder and Executive Producer. "In partnership with several local organizations, Startup Fashion Week continues to create awareness and showcase opportunities for fashion entrepreneurs, supporting them in establishing brand credibility, finding growth opportunities and capturing media exposure."
SFW is in its third year of production and will return to Toronto from October 3rd to 7th, 2016 as a week-long program with a runway show featuring a Business of Fashion Conference, Forums with speaker panels and a Runway Show featuring five startup designers, wearable tech and accessory startups, as well as a 'Startup Success' segment to recognize 10 female entrepreneurs.
Goodfellow says plans for SFW 2016 are underway, and organizers are excited about the lineup of this year's participants, and notes a 35 per cent increase in designer applications this year. "We have local participants, and we also have participants coming from Ottawa, Montreal, San Francisco and Australia. These designers clearly see the value of showcasing in front of the Toronto fashion community," she said.
Details will be updated on the website www.startupfashionweek.com with ticket sales expected to begin in August.
