Toronto FC's Dwayne De Rosario teams up with local community foundation to launch the DeRo Foundation

TORONTO, March 19, 2014 /CNW/ - On Saturday, March 22, Canadian National Team and Toronto FC player, Dwayne De Rosario, will officially launch the DeRo Foundation, following the first Toronto FC home game of the season. De Rosario joins a roster of more than 350 individuals and families who have established a "donor advised" endowment Fund at the Toronto Community Foundation.

Styled as a cocktail reception, the launch event at the Trump International Hotel & Tower Toronto will feature a silent auction of sports memorabilia to raise funds for community causes. Donations made to the DeRo Foundation will also be accepted and tax receipts will be provided for donations of $100 or more. "Starting the DeRo Foundation was a necessary step for me to impact as many youth as possible in our vulnerable communities. The Foundation will also work closely with other establishments within these communities to utilize sport to inspire and develop our future community role models, leaders, and potential pro-athletes," said De Rosario. "I chose the Toronto Community Foundation because of its history of helping our community as well as its passion for developing youth."

The DeRo Foundation will provide opportunities for youth in high priority neighbourhoods to participate in sports and learn about nutrition.
