Toronto Homecoming Announce Launch of 2012 Campaign to Bring Talented Professionals Back Home
TORONTO, Feb. 21, 2012 /CNW/ - Toronto Homecoming has launched its third annual application campaign to encourage talented local leaders living abroad to return home and explore career opportunities through a four-day event, taking place from June 7, 2012 to June 10, 2012.
"These talented professionals can provide valuable international insight and experience to drive economic and social innovation," said Andrew Graham, Co-Chair, Toronto Homecoming. "Our past two events have included participants from over 22 countries. Dozens have successfully moved back to Toronto since and we look forward to welcoming a large and talented group of homecomers this year."
Studies indicate that Toronto loses a significant number of young professionals every year to jobs in the United States and abroad. Many have great success and contribute to the social and economic innovation of their adopted city. Many of these leaders would like to return to Canada, but find it difficult to find the high quality job opportunities that are available.
"The purpose of Toronto Homecoming is to make it easier for emerging leaders to connect with the great jobs that are available in Toronto, and to help them re-establish themselves in the city. We are looking for high performers and innovators with success in driving change who have an existing connection to Toronto through work, family or studies." noted Eva Wong Scanlan, Co-Chair, Toronto Homecoming.
The application deadline to be considered for acceptance to the event is March 16, 2012. Applicants should be professionals in the early-to-mid stages of their careers and former Torontonians that live abroad and want to return to the city. Successful applicants will be notified by March 31, 2012.
Participation in the event is limited to 100 people and applicants will be assessed on their professional, civic and volunteer experience. Career opportunities are divided into three streams:
1) Financial & Professional Services
2) Retail and Consumer Packaged Goods
3) Technology and Telecom
Events during the conference include:
- Opportunities to meet with leading companies and organizations looking to hire international talent
- Interaction with executive search firms looking to place candidates with Toronto companies and organizations
- Social and networking events
- Optional neighbourhood tours and family-oriented events

Toronto Homecoming is an initiative of the CivicAction's Emerging Leaders Network. As a group of volunteers, our goal is to connect talented Torontonians living abroad with opportunities in the city.
Toronto Homecoming 2010 attracted 40 Torontonians back to the city from all over the world. Toronto Homecoming 2011 was even bigger, with close to 100 people and dozens of partnering organizations.
