Toronto Hydro and the Toronto District School Board launch Team Up for Green
TORONTO, Sept. 30, 2014 /CNW/ - Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited ("Toronto Hydro") and the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) will launch Team Up for Green at James S. Bell Junior Middle Sports and Wellness Academy. The program is designed to help schools across Toronto fundraise for 500 new bike racks.

WHAT: |
Toronto Hydro and the TDSB will launch Team Up for Green, a program designed to help schools across Toronto fundraise for 500 new bike racks. Student families and friends, as well as residents in each neighbourhood can sign up for free green programs and services, including e-billing, automatic payment plans, peaksaver PLUS® and energy coupons to help them reach the fundraising goal. As well, students at James S. Bell will be participating in a bike and pedestrian clinic to promote bike safety. |

WHY: |
It's the first day of International Walk to School Month and the relaunch of the school's Walk and Wheel Wednesdays. Team Up For Green supports TDSB's new Charter for Active, Safe and Sustainable Transportation that promotes travel to school by cycling, walking or other modes of active transportation. The program encourages Toronto Hydro customers to sign up for free green programs and services. The more families that participate, the more likely Toronto Hydro and TDSB will achieve their goal of 30,000 signups. If sign-up goals are met, the TDSB will receive $250,000 to help fund bike racks. |
