Toronto Hydro crews respond to storm related outages
TORONTO, July 20, 2013 /CNW/ - Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited (Toronto Hydro) is pleased to report that approximately 90 per cent of customers who were impacted by last night's sever storm have been restored. At this time, crews have reduced the outage count from approximately 7,000 customers down to approximately 700 customers. Additional staff resources are on-hand responding to outages and customer calls. Although Toronto Hydro crews will work until all power is restored, the company anticipates that, unfortunately, some customers will remain without power throughout the night.
The storm has brought down very large trees and limbs, which have caused extensive damage to our equipment and required significant clearing by forestry crews. If customers come across damaged utility poles or see downed power lines they should stay clear as they may be energized and call 911 or report them to Toronto Hydro at 416-542-8000.
Safety of residents and employees is a top priority and will be the first consideration as Toronto Hydro responds to outages. Customers can expect updates from Toronto Hydro via Twitter (@TorontoHydro), on torontohydro.com, through the media or by calling 416-542-8000.
A reminder to customers without power, please do not assume that Toronto Hydro is aware. Report outages by calling 416-542-8000.
