Toronto Hydro: Downtown Power Outage Update
TORONTO, Jan. 16, 2012 /CNW/ - Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited ("Toronto Hydro") reports that power has been restored to most of the area affected by this afternoon's vault fire which resulted in damaged cables. Approximate boundaries included: North - Queen Street E; East - Sumach/Cherry; South - Front Street East and West - Sherbourne Street. Toronto Hydro crews restored the wide outage in stages with all power restored to all but one building as of approximately 6:09 p.m. The building at 33 Princess Street is still out and expected to be restored early Tuesday morning at approximately 4:00 a.m. Fire destroyed at least nine high voltage power cables feeding the area.
