Toronto Hydro-lert #6: The school day will be ending shortly, Toronto Hydro reminds all - especially children - to stay clear of downed wires
TORONTO, Nov. 1, 2013 /CNW/ - Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited (Toronto Hydro) is now reporting approximately 600 customers without power in various locations throughout the city. According to Environment Canada, wind speeds are diminishing with gusts down to 55 kms per hour. Toronto Hydro's distribution system is generally affected by winds reaching 90 kms per hour (or greater.)
At the present time:
- Work volumes are at 400 per cent over normal volumes.
- Additional customer service representatives have been added to assist with 'power out' calls.
- Based on the current volume the average time for crews to arrive onsite is 1.5 hours. Construction crews have been reassigned from their regular work to respond to outages.
- Current restoration time for all calls is 4 hours.
Toronto Hydro continues to ask the public to stay clear of all downed wires and to report them at 416.542.8000.
