Toronto Hydro power restoration update
TORONTO, Dec. 30, 2013 /CNW/ - Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited (Toronto Hydro) reports that we continue to make progress tonight. As of 9:30 p.m., there are approximately 290 customers without service, and crews will continue to work throughout the night until all outages are addressed. In addition, there are approximately 490 locations that have received Electrical Safety Authority approval to re-energize following repairs to electrical stand pipes that were damaged in the storm. Toronto Hydro is dispatching crews to these locations.
As expected, our equipment at many locations has experienced severe damage due to the ice storm and there is also a great deal of forestry work and clean up required. As a result, power restoration, is taking much longer than would normally be the case.
If you are in a neighbourhood that has been restored but your home is still without power, it is critical that you report your outage to a call centre agent by calling 416-542-8000.
