Toronto Hydro recognized for dedication to a safe workplace

Utility receives Silver Award from Canada's Safest Employers

TORONTO, Oct. 25, 2016 /CNW/ - Toronto Hydro was presented with Canada's Safest Employers Silver Safety Award yesterday, at a ceremony hosted by Canadian Occupational Safety, a magazine dedicated to workplace safety.

The award came in the Safety category in recognition of our commitment to safety in the workplace, which focuses on the continued improvement of controls for recognized occupational hazards and risks. For example, safety improvements have been made in our identification of underground cables. This has included the introduction of new test equipment, procedures, and training, leading to greater safety results.    

Preventing workplace injuries and illnesses is our top priority and in 2015, we achieved an entire year without a lost-time injury and total recordable injuries were 53% lower than our benchmarked peers.
