Toronto Hydro Reporting Power Outages Across Toronto
TORONTO, March 3, 2015 /CNW/ - Late this afternoon, the GTA was hit by a winter weather event that brought an accumulation of snow, freezing rain and then rain. While the weather has now passed through our area, it has caused multiple power outages in Toronto, primarily in Etobicoke and Scarborough.
Hydro One Networks Inc. (HONI) also lost transmission supply to areas in Toronto causing a spike in the number of outages. HONI transmission has now been restored as of 8:30 p.m., however our system remains unstable.
As of 8:40 this evening we have approximately 15,000 customers without power.
Toronto Hydro has called in crews and is bringing in standby crews to deal with the high number of outages. Crews are currently attending to emergency wires down calls and conducting damage assessment to be able to provide our customers with an approximate estimated time of restoration by 11 p.m. tonight.
Please be reminded to stay well clear of downed power lines.
Report outages by calling 416-542-8000 or on-line www.outageTO.com.
