Toronto Hydro Reports Approximately 1,200 Customers Without Power
TORONTO, Nov. 1, 2013 /CNW/ - Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited (Toronto Hydro) is reporting approximately 1,200 customers without power in various locations throughout the city, primarily in the Scarborough and Etobicoke areas.
Calls to the Toronto Hydro call centre are increasing. Based on the current volume the average time for crews to arrive onsite is three hours. Current restoration time for all calls is four hours. Wind gusts are expected to continue throughout the morning and resources will be triaged appropriately to ensure the efficient and safe power restoration for customers. All crews are being deployed to work on power restoration; this includes public safety calls like downed tree limbs and wires.
While the rain is light, Environment Canada is anticipating that heavy winds will continue through the morning. This can cause damage to trees and power lines. The utility reminds customers to always keep back from downed wires and to report them immediately. If customers are experiencing a power outage, it should be reported at 416-542-8000.
