Approximately $79,000 donation going towards new bike racks
TORONTO, April 22, 2015 /CNW/ - Today, Toronto Hydro presented a $78,560 cheque to the Toronto District School Board at Smithfield Middle School to help purchase bike racks as part of the Team Up For Green partnership.
Between October and December 2014, schools around the city participated in the Team Up for Green Campaign, which encouraged Toronto Hydro customers to sign-up for green programs, such as peaksaver PLUS®, Coupons, E-bills, and Pre-Authorized Payment programs.
The money will fund the purchase of new bicycle racks at TDSB schools, encouraging students and staff to ride their bikes to school.
The presentation was part of Earth Day activities and supports the TDSB's Charter for Active, Safe and Sustainable Transportation that promotes travel to school by cycling, walking or other modes of active transportation.
