Toronto Paramedics, EMS Professionals and supporters to hold rally at Toronto City Hall to demand Essential Service Status with binding interest arbitration.
Nathan Phillips Square, 100 Queen St. W., Toronto, January 24, 2012, 08:00am
TORONTO, Jan. 23, 2012 /CNW/ - Paramedics, EMS Professionals and supporters from Toronto and across the province will be holding a rally in Nathan Phillips Square and making deputations before Toronto Council's Executive Committee. They will be demanding that they are once and for all made an essential service, just like Police and Fire with a fair process of binding interest arbitration. The event will take place on January 24, 2012 at 08:00am.
The TPA completely supports essential service status for Toronto EMS Paramedics, Dispatchers, Management and Support staff. We believe any essential service status given to EMS should be exactly the same as the status afforded Police and Fire services across the province. It is imperative that this designation include a fair and equitable process of binding interest arbitration for dispute resolution. All Paramedics and Emergency Medical Services across the province of Ontario should be mandated as an essential service.
The TPA represents the professional interests of nearly 400 Toronto Paramedics. The TPA is a chapter organization of the Ontario Paramedic Association and the Paramedic Association of Canada.
