Tourism Richmond's Day of Giving - November 28, 2013
Richmond businesses to support the Richmond Christmas Fund
RICHMOND, BC, Nov. 26, 2013 /CNW/ - For the second year in a row, Tourism Richmond is supporting the Richmond Christmas Fund in their fundraising efforts to help Richmond families during the holiday season through its Day of Giving program. On November 28, 2012, several Richmond-based businesses will be donating a portion of their day's sales to the Richmond Christmas Fund.
Tourism Richmond has reached out to its partners asking them to join together and make a difference this holiday season - for seniors living alone, single parent families, and others who simply can't afford to put a meal on the table or gifts under the tree. By dining or shopping at any of Tourism Richmond's participating partners on November 28, a portion of the day's sales will support the Fund and Tourism Richmond will also match those proceeds as part of the Day of Giving. Partners include: Cora Breakfast & Lunch, Living Café, Lulu Island Winery, MoMa Contemporary Bistro, The Mad Greek Restaurant and The Fowl Farmer.
In 2012, the Day of Giving, including the Drive Thru Event at Lansdowne Centre, raised over $10,000 to support 729 households who received grocery vouchers and/or toys and 806 families. Each day Richmond welcomes visitors from around the world to our city so let's show just how welcoming we can be to our own neighbors in need.

ABOUT THE RICHMOND CHRISTMAS FUND

Each year, the Richmond Christmas Fund distributes over 2,000 grocery vouchers to low-income Richmond residents, so that every family has the opportunity to sit down to a joyful and healthy holiday celebration. In addition, over 1,000 children 12 years and younger receive numerous gifts, ensuring that no child has to return to school in January without a wonderful story to tell.
