Towers Watson Data Services Releases 2009/2010 Canadian Survey Report on
Information Technology Personnel Compensation
- Short-term incentive awards were most prevalent in the Non-Durable Goods Manufacturing Sector. - Information Technology personnel in Manitoba/Saskatchewan received the highest average short-term incentive payment among the regions surveyed.
The data are based on the responses of 249 organizations encompassing 646 locations reporting data on 12,577 incumbents. Data are presented on a total of 24 geographic areas and 76 industry classifications.
Bonus and Profit Sharing Trends
Bonus and/or other cash compensation averaged 8.7 percent of salary for all salary levels combined, with an average of 49.4 percent of information technology personnel receiving a payment. Within the six salary level distinctions reported, the percentage of employees receiving short-term incentives varied by more than 30 percentage points--67.1 percent of employees earning
Employees in Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta represent the three largest groups of employees receiving a short-term incentive payment, at 56.4 percent, 52.7 percent and 46.3 percent, respectively. Of the three regions, employees in Alberta fared the best receiving an average incentive payment of 9.3 percent of salary; Ontario employees followed with 8.4 percent of salary and British Columbia employees received 8.1 percent of salary. However, employees in Manitoba/Saskatchewan received the highest average short-term incentive (10.4 percent of salary) among all of the regions surveyed.
