TORONTO, Dec. 20, 2012 /CNW/ - With only 1 day left, The Yonge Street Mission is experiencing a critical shortage of toys for families this year. The Toy Market, which is serving 850 families and over 2,100 children this Christmas, assists families who live below the poverty line by giving them toys for their children on Christmas day.
Rachel Hainaut, Toy Market Coordinator, said that "days can start of sparsely but, with 240 families still expected until Friday, there is always a need for more toys in case of emergencies".
So far, the generosity of donors and volunteers has been amazing. One Toy Market visitor was shopping for his 3 children when he pledged to return as a volunteer once he got a job.
We need your help to make Christmas a time of joy in our community. Please contact the Mission at 416-929-9614 to make a donation this year.
