Traffic Safety Measures In Place At Little Long Generating Station
Delays can be expected during construction
TORONTO, Sept. 3 /CNW/ - To ensure public safety during construction on the Lower Mattagami River project, Ontario Power Generation (OPG) and its design build contractor, Kiewit Alarie Partnership, are implementing additional traffic safety measures to allow ongoing access across north of Little Long Generating Station.
Gates have been installed at Little Long Generating Station (GS). All individuals wanting to travel across the Little Long Dam and from Little Long GS to Kipling GS will require an escort. Travelers can expect delays of up to two hours during construction activities that may pose a significant risk to public safety.
OPG is currently redeveloping four hydroelectric stations on the Mattagami River north of Kapuskasing. Once completed, the project will add enough clean, renewable electricity to power between 330,000 and 440,000 homes each year.
These safety measures are expected to be in place for the duration of the five year project.
