Transformative K-12 Leader Joins ORION Board of Directors
TORONTO, Sept. 13, 2013 /CNW/ - The Ontario Research and Innovation Optical Network (ORION) is pleased to welcome Karen Grose, Supervisory Officer at the Toronto District School Board to the ORION Board of Directors. With her appointment, Ontario's backbone of innovation gains a prominent voice and an advocate for forward-thinking leadership within the education sector.
"With her passion and reputation for raising student achievement and improving learning for students of all levels, Karen will play a valuable role in supporting and helping to direct ORION's K-12 initiatives," explains Darin Graham, ORION President and CEO. "Karen is a key player and champion of educational strategy and planning here in Ontario, and is an incredible addition to ORION's leadership team."

During her 23-year career within Ontario's education sector, Karen has been working and learning alongside students, staff, parents and community in the Toronto District School Board where she has focussed her efforts to build innovative learning environments. Karen's past roles as School Superintendent, Program Superintendent, K-12, and Coordinating Superintendent have allowed her to focus on methods of improving teaching, learning, and student achievement through instructional leadership, creativity, collaboration and equity. Co-author of Flash Forward! Rethinking Learning and a speaker and writer of issues pertaining to forward-thinking leadership, Karen is currently on a brief Leave of Absence from the Toronto District School Board to complete her PhD in Teaching and Learning in the 21st Century at the University of Toronto's Ontario Institute for Studies in Education.
