Transit infrastructure is essential to the health of cities and the entire economy
TORONTO, April 30, 2015 /CNW/ - Today The Canadian Institute released an updated agenda for its ground-breaking conference, Delivering Urban Transit Infrastructure. Top transit experts will discuss the future of urban transit planning, finance, construction, and management at this first-ever urban transit infrastructure event.
"…an unprecedented opportunity…"
"All levels of government in Canada now recognize that transit infrastructure is essential to the effective functioning of individual cities and the entire economy. This creates an unprecedented opportunity for cities to address their fundamental and, in some cases, neglected transit needs," says Robert Shouldice, Partner and Chair of BLG's National Council, and conference Co-chair.
"We're excited to have this calibre of faculty – collectively providing hundreds of years of transit and infrastructure expertise – to explore the issues and opportunities" added Larry Blain, former Chair/CEO of Partnerships BC, Senior Director, Global Infrastructure Advisory, KPMG, and conference Co-chair.
Transit, transportation, and infrastructure specialists discuss their experiences.
Speakers include senior finance, legal, project, and operations consultants, as well as urban transit specialists from major cities, and organizations like Infrastructure Ontario, Metrolinx, PPP Canada, and The Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships.
Experts share their insights on the future of public-private partnerships.
Transit, infrastructure, and P3 (public-private partnership) experts from Canada, the U.S. and the U.K. will be discussing common challenges and the latest techniques for financing, planning, building, and managing urban transit projects.
P3s enable governments to reduce the inherent finance, construction, and maintenance risk in major projects. Two pre-conference workshops will examine deal structure and risk, and financing management of P3 projects.
