Transit Union and Metrolinx Reach Tentative Agreement
TORONTO, June 2, 2014 /CNW/ - The Amalgamated Transit Union, Local 1587 has reached a tentative collective bargaining agreement with Metrolinx. Local 1587 represents approximately 1,850 Metrolinx employees including GO Transit Bus Drivers, Mechanics and Station Attendants and Office, Technical and Professional staff.
Having reached a tentative agreement there will be no strike action and there should be no disruption to public transit service.
Dan Harris, President of Local 1587 said "we are very pleased that a fair and equitable agreement was reached without any disruption to GO Transit service. Our members were committed from day one to negotiating a fair collective agreement so that they can continue to serve GO Transit passengers."
Members of the Local will vote on the tentative agreement. A date will be set at the earliest possible time.
