STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Oct. 28, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - CGI (NYSE: GIB) (TSX: GIB.A) is pleased to announce the expansion of its outsourcing agreement with DB Schenker to include the development and management of the company's applications. The applications manage core processes such as package and freight handling that are critical to DB Schenker's transport and logistics business.
DB Schenker entered into a comprehensive outsourcing relationship with CGI in 2014, selecting CGI as its partner for overall IT support across its operations in Sweden and parts of Europe. The recent extension of this agreement is for 4 years and is valued at approximately 65 million Swedish Krona (approx. CAD $10 million).
As a leading transport and logistics company, DB Schenker has rigorous requirements for stable and secure IT delivery, and the mission-critical Unix applications CGI will be managing must be available 24x7.
"It is extremely important to us that we have an IT partner that understands our business and can meet our need for modern, efficient and business-critical IT support," said Maria Magnusson, Manager of Application Management at DB Schenker. "Through our long-time collaboration with CGI, we have benefitted from delivery that evolves in line with our needs. It therefore felt natural to extend our cooperation to include an agreement for the development and management of our core business applications."
"We are incredibly pleased with the close relationship we have with DB Schenker," said CGI's Pär Fors, Senior Vice-President, Sweden. "An important prerequisite for this long-term relationship is our deep knowledge of DB Schenker's operations. We see this new agreement as confirmation of the value we are delivering, and we look forward to continuing to help address DB Schenker's current and future needs."
